FEBRUARY 1998 NEWSLETTER
This newsletter is short on news, but never-the-less we will attempt to update you with what is happening in our genealogical efforts. We have sent Trudy Schenk $2500 for German research. She is working on leads on the Brill line. She has written letters to Germany to pastors of various churches requesting information.
We are confident we are narrowing down the areas where Martin Brill might have been born. The problem is that the records we need to investigate are not microfilmed and we need to locate the correct parish. This will require another trip to Germany. This is a difficult problem to solve, but one that we are committed to solve and we will keep at it until we do.
I would like to let everyone know that access to the internet in order to read these newsletters is not difficult to achieve. I have had some who have written that they have no access to the internet. They probably do not know that the internet can be accessed in virtually any library. If your county has a library, it undoubtedly has the internet. All you have to do is have them show you how you connect to it and then type in this address and it will take you to the Mower Family History Association web page: http://www.xmission.com/~mower
If your county has a high school, it will also have internet capabilities. Communities have internet capabilities if they have universities or community colleges. Check the libraries of these facilities. If you search for "Mower Family History Association" on the internet it will also lead you to the web site. So, there are really two ways to find it.
On our web site you will find copies of all the newsletters from 1989 until this one. You can read any of them, you can also have any of them printed right off the internet. You will note we also have a section for life histories of our ancestors. You can print any of those histories also. There really is no reason why everyone can not access the internet. Many of you have it in your home. I am sure all of you have neighbors and surely some of those have internet in their homes. They can also run a copy for you in just a couple of minutes.
Update on Amelia Augusta Anderson Research
I am expecting very soon a communication from Sweden. The researcher says she sent material on 29 Nov 1997, but I think she must have failed to write Air Mail on the mail, because I have not received it yet and I think it came by slow boat from China. Anyway, she assures me she sent material and I think it ought to be coming soon. She has made progress on this line. I will share that in future newsletters. We are still making contact with new people each month via the internet and e-mail who link into our lines. We welcome relative Ronald Brill from California who is interested in our research and is contributing to Trudy's research. We thank those who help in any way. It is much appreciated and by working together we will eventually put the pieces of this puzzle together. Thanks for those who continue to write and contribute. Thanks also to Lester Siler who is keeping the work going in the Idaho Falls Temple. I have not been a lot of help to him in the sealings, but he is a stalwart this winter and has done much work. I need to say a thank you to Mark and Rhoda Hopkins who have done a lot of work in Idaho Falls also. Mark has been especially helpful as we have labored together getting this temple work done and I have a lot of love and respect for him. He has helped us do much work for our ancestors. Thanks to him.
I know there are many others working in various temples and if you would keep me informed of your progress. As work is completed and put on the IGI or Ancestral File, whatever the case, it helps others link up with us. Seldom does a week go by that I do not hear from new relatives. Just this week I heard from a descendant of the Shaw line in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. You will remember that Mahala Mower, daughter of Henry Mower Sr. stayed in Bedford and married a Shaw. Well, I have connected with Shaw descendants and we are exchanging information. The work continues to grow and develop.
Thanks again to all. Please keep us in mind.
